Brown had such a dynamic style with so much energy in his compositions that it made sense that he found his way to the Universal Studios art department in the 1950's, where his talent was unleashed on a slate of classic "B" monster movies, including the iconic artwork for The Creature From The Black Lagoon.
Again, a nice touch that the authors include sketches, works-in-progress and even camera-ready art like the poster for Tarantula, below.
Attack of the Puppet People is one of my favorite "B" movies of the '50's. How could it not be with a tag line like "Doll Dwarfs versus the Crushing Giant Beasts"?
He later lent his brush to painting the posters for Epics like Spartacus, Ben Hur, The Alamo, King of Kings and How The West Was Won. Brown died in 1991, after suffering a stroke in the '70's that limited his output to an occasional landscape oil painting.
But his imagery will be around as long as people are watching any of the scores of classic films that he helped to market with the indelible impression he made with his art.
Thanks, Reynold!

The titles of these works slay me! I think we'll get some of these movies the next time we have a house full of teenagers. I can't wait to hear their reactions.

I would like to see some of those movies ! I am so curious :)
It is sweet to see these illustrations now, the concept or horror back then was a lot nicer than today, kind of naive. Today things are so raw.

The scarf looks great. I have been making okay progress on my first scarf (crochet). When I work on it I get a lot done, but then I forget to work on it for days. I'd better get cracking or it will be summer and too warm to wear it! And that's a great movie list, I've seen most of them, but it's time to watch them again.
