New Year. New office. New projects. New company.
Life IS Change.
And I remain full of Wonder, at human nature, at the gifts and beauty around us, at the complexities and contradictions and humor and irony in the world we inhabit, and at the warp speed and mysterious trajectory we all seem to be on as we hurtle forward in to the 21st Century.
So I start off 2009 as an independent producer with a slate of my own projects and have renamed my production company Wonderful Films Corporation to capture this sense of wonder that I hope will continue to be a core quality of the films that I am involved with endeavoring to make.
In a major reduction of my carbon footprint, I have a new office which is within walking distance of my house and am trading in my car for my bicycle as my principal means of transportation whenever I can.
First up for the Wonderful Films Corporation is going to be working with the brilliant and hilarious Chris Rock to make a new, American-set, urban remake of a comedy gem that unfortunately too few people saw here the first time around - Frank Oz's "Death At A Funeral".
I'll have more on the Rock project and other Wonderful Films, but now I leave you to whistle and tap dance your way into 2009 with Gene Kelly and the Wonderful Films theme song:
S'wonderful - American in Paris
Congratulations! I love the name and the logo, and also the fact that you can ride your bike to work (a great achievement in LA!). Although I do love the bicycle commuting, you'll have to forgive me if I now prefer to picture you singing and tap dancing all the way to your wonderful new office!

Best wishes for a wonderful new life closer to home and independently making movies! I look forward to the movies and learning more about what it is, exactly, that a producer does.

Oh Bill congratulations - there is a growing sense I think that 2009 might be a very good year indeed for many of us.
Not materially - more along the lines of realising cherished dreams.
Good luck....

Why an outlier? Can it be that you are one of God's chosen few who can see beauty in anything He has created? I'm glad you are making films about wonder and beauty. I thought everyone in films had given up on that long ago. Help us to see what you see; I'm ready to smile and sing again.
