Jim Sheridan's celebrated movie never had a sequel, but the surgery I had last August did, as the doctors at USC hospital went back in to my left foot yesterday for the latest, and hopefully last "step" (excuse the pun) on my long road to recovery from the fall that resulted in a multiple fracture of my calcaneus (heel) bone.
Apparently the mechanic at the last garage left his transistor radio and half of a ham sandwich inside before they sewed the whole thing back up last time. While I enjoyed the soundtrack emanating from the hardware in my foot, and the occasional White Sox broadcast I was able to pick up, it was clear I was not going to make it onto Dancing With The Stars without letting them back under the hood of this old struggle-buggy to remove the potpourri inside.
Not much fun but at least I am able to replenish my collection of pain medications and play the old sympathy card with my wife and kids again!!

I hope that you are up and dancing again soon. ;-)

I just sent this post to a bunch of my friends as I agree with most of what you’re saying here and the way you’ve presented it is awesome.

How's your left foot now? I once had an injury during a volleyball game, but I think yours is much more severe. =( I hope everything's okay with you now.
